The Terrible Ones???

Oh my Mommy has her hands full right now, she hasn't been feeling well and both kids have runny noses so things are a bit crazy. Let's see...where should I begin?

First off the kids are climbing on all the furniture and they are getting into everything (and I mean EVERYTHING). Nate has figured out how to pull the plastic bins out of the toy shelf and throw all of the toys on the floor. I have to hand it too him though, he is very creative in what he wants to do with the empty plastic bins. Just think of how many uses can you can come up with for a small empty plastic bin? Well the twins can think of 5 uses, and so far we have:

1. Sit in them
2. Flip them over and sit on top of them
3. Wear them on your head
4. Throw them
5. Store Cheerios in them and then feed the Cheerios to the Dog

I had no idea that one bin could have so many uses, and I'm sure they will think of more things to do with them in the weeks to come.

Reagan is in LOVE with wearing Hats these days. We have a stash of them on the changing table and she is always stealing them and putting them on her head. Sometimes I even catch her wearing two hats at one time. She must have a hat on her head for about half the day. I am actually beginning to forget what her hair looks like.

Nate has figured out how to climb up on the sofa and of course Reagan cries and screams until we put her up there too. This means that Daddy had to rearrange the entire living room so that the sofa was against a wall and less of a fall hazard. Since then the living room has become a sea of cushions and pillows on the floor so that the kids don't tumble off the sofa and bang their heads.

Nathan really seems to like putting various objects in his toys. He has a ball popper and Choo Choo train that are only designed for plastic balls but I find them stuck with rattles, pacifiers, Little People and of course....Cheerios! He is on a serious mission to put everything that he can find (and that will fit) inside his toys and that means Mommy must use screw drivers, plastic forks and even Nose Pliers to pry out the various objects that Nate has gotten stuck in his toys.

Nathan is definitely having an anxiety with strangers right now and he is starting to throw tantrums. The tantrums mostly happen when he wants a certain food and he doesn't get it right away. Reagan has been acting a little different lately too, she has been crying a lot more than usual and constantly wants to be right next to Mommy or Daddy. We are calling this stage the "Terrible Ones" and we hoping that this is all just a phase and that things will get better soon, but then reality sets in and we realize that things will probably get even more crazy before they get better. But we just love them both to pieces so.....Bring on the Terrible Ones, we are ready!

We go To Chuck E. Cheese

Daddy's afternoon work appointment canceled on Tuesday so we were able to squeeze in a quick visit to the local Chuck E. Cheese. Mommy had heard that it can be a little dangerous for little bitty kids with all of the older kids running around so I was glad that we were able to go at a time when it wasn't very busy.

Nate and Reagan had so much fun, I wish that we could have stayed longer. We sat near the stage with the singing animals and they watched in amazement as we ate our pizza. We sat them on a few rides like a pretend roller coaster built for two and a toy car. Mommy was able to snap a quick picture but unfortunately we were running out of time since Daddy had to get back to work. Just before we left we let them run around the restaurant for a bit. Nathan took off so fast I thought he would never stop and Reagan was following right behind him. Eventually Nathan found a window that he wanted to hang out at and Reagan found the gold plated outlets on the floor to be very interesting. Nathan also managed to make friends with another little boy there who was about to turn two. I was a little nervous at first since they really haven't been around other kids but all turned out well. I was also amazed that there was very little difference in size between the twins and the 2 year old boy. I guess they are really growing fast.

Out in the Grass

It was so warm today. Yay, summer is here! We took the twins out in the grass and let them walk around. Well, Reagan walked around and Nathan just plopped down on his tush. Nathan got the hang of it after awhile but he thought that he needed to "High-Step" to walk in the grass. It was really cute as if he was walking in chewing gum.

We also went on the slide at the playground and both of the kids loved it. I took videos but they are sideways because Mommy forgot that you can only turn the camera sideways for pictures and not for video (Silly mommy!) I will post the videos tomorrow. I'm off to bed right now, these kids are wearing me out!

Swings and Things

This is just a quick post....On Thursday we got to use the swings for the first time. Nathan liked it at first but after a few minutes he got kinda cranky so Mommy didn't get any good pictures. Reagan really seemed to like the swing though.

Earlier in the Day the kids played under the kitchen table and got into Mommy's ebay boxes. They just have a blast hiding under the tablecloth, I guess it is their little fort. Nathan has been doing a "Piggy" sound lately you hear a little bit of "Piggy" in this video.

Cozy Coupe Car

Mommy found this Cozy Coupe Car on Craig's List for $5.00 so we gave it a trial run in the kitchen today. It's not in the best of shape, but the kids didn't seem to mind. They are not quite ready to move it around with their feet (Flintstone style) so Mommy just pushed them around the kitchen until her back got too sore. I think we will be looking into getting a couple of the little plastic cars that come with the handles so they are easier to push...that's something we will have to bug Daddy for.

Friday and Saturday are supposed to be very warm here in the 70's so we will be planning some outdoor activities. Daddy installed two toddler swings on under our deck last weekend so hopefully we will be able to get out and enjoy them soon.

Reagan says Bye Bye

This is the best I have so far of Reagan saying "Bye, Bye". Notice how she waves backwards as she says "Ba, Ba". Usually she waves forward and Nate is the one who waves the wrong way...she must have learned this from her brother.

Pajamas and Food

The picture above is of the kids wearing thier new Pajamas that Grammie Gail got them. It has been in the 70's the past two days and warm enough for short sleeves.

The weather has been so nice here that we have been getting out a lot more. On Thursday Mommy took the kids to BJ's which is a wholesale store like Sam's Club. It was great because they have double carts so the kids can sit side by side in the cart. We even saw a Grandpa at the store with another set of Boy/Girl twins. His twins were 15 months old and honestly I think that Nate and Reagan were double the size of those babies. I couldn't believe how much bigger my kids were. It really makes me laugh because when the kids were 7 months old I took them to Target and the cashier was amazed how small the twins were. She actually told me that her 7 month old baby could eat my babies. It is just so funny how much they have grown.

Speaking of growing and shopping here is a list of some of the foods they like. It is very short because they are very picky eaters. I have come to the realization that I need to make different meals for each baby because they really don't like a lot of the same foods:

Nathan: Meatballs, Turkey Lunch Meat Lunchables (Diced), Beef Stew, Lipton Cheddar and Broccoli Noodles, Any Cheese, Animal Cookies, Green Beans, Eggs

Reagan: Peaches, Pears, Toast with Jelly, Pancakes, Waffles, Bananas, Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Both: Gerber Dried Fruit, Gerber Puffs, Gerber Lil' Crunchies, Cheerios, Chicken Nuggets, Peas, Corn, Watermelon, Apples, Oranges, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Broccoli, Carrots, Bacon, Brown Sugar Pop-Tarts, Sometimes a Babyfood jar of cereal

Double Trouble

Reagan's Monday doctor appointment went just as we expected. She does have Keratosis piloris and we are doing all the right things for her. We just need to continue to put on her special lotion once a day and that's about it. The good news is that her skin bumps should improve as she gets older. According to the doctor's scales Reagan is 30" long and 23 lbs. We measured Nathan at home and he is also 30" but he is 22lbs.

Here is a picture of the kids on their new couch. The kids are sporting their new "Double Trouble" onesies and Bruin Bear is in the front of the photo. Bruin Bear's mouth moves as he talks and sings so the kids are just fascinated with him.

Since the kids wore their Double Trouble shirts today here is a list of some of the "Trouble" that they get into.....

• Nathan pulls on Reagan's hair until she cries
• They throw ALL of their toys over the gate into the other room all day long
• Nathan likes to bite (he especially likes to bite Daddy for some reason)
• They team up on the the cat and dog and pull their fur and tail
• They steal Mommy's glasses off her face
• Reagan throws a fit and cries every time we lay her down for a diaper change
• They feed the dog their Cheerios
• They throw their food and sippy cups on the floor
• Nathan runs away and makes us chase him every time we call his name to come here
• Reagan steals Nathan's pacifier out of his mouth every time they are in the stroller (even though she doesn't use one)

REAGAN'S FIRST WORD:

We have officially decided that Reagan is now saying "Bye, Bye". She doesn't do it every time but she will wave and say "Dye, Dye" or sometimes she says "Ba, Ba" and waves. She has been doing it for a little while but we weren't sure if she knew what she was doing. Now she is really saying it more often and at the correct times so we are going to make it official....Reagan's fist word is "Bye, Bye".

Lazy Day

Today was a bit of a lazy day. It rained most of the day and was much cooler than yesterday so it was a good day to stay indoors. However Daddy did stay pretty busy and knocked off a big item from our "To-Do List" by replacing the kitchen faucet. The new faucet is working great and we no longer have any leaks...Yippee!

The kids played all day so I thought that I would tell everyone some of the things they like to do. Nathan has recently started to wear this very small green teething towel on his head or sometimes he wears it like a cape on his shoulders. I have no idea why he suddenly started to do this but he will leave it on for about 30 minutes at a time. Today I put it in his crib at nap time and when I went back to check on him he was sleeping on his tummy with the towel on his shoulders. He is just too funny. Reagan likes to play "Give to Mommy, Give to Daddy". In this game she takes a toy and walks across the room to give it to Mommy and then walks all the way over to Daddy to give him the same toy. This can go on for hours before she tires of it. Here is a picture of Reagan and her Stacking Cups.

We are hoping for nice weather tomorrow because Mommy is taking us to the Doctor. Only Reagan has an appointment but of course Nathan will be coming along. We will be seeing a Pediatric Dermatologist to talk more about what we can do for her skin condition. As most of you know she doesn't have anything serious (just a form of dry skin) but we want to see if we can do anything to make her skin look & feel as best as possible.

Busy Day & Close Call

We all had a very busy day today. We started out with a trip to a big children's resale event. We only picked up a few items but it was a nice trip out. From there we took Daddy's car to Firestone for some work and then to Babies R Us. Daddy bought the kids the cutest little pull-out sofa at Babies R Us. We haven't gotten any pictures yet, but both Nate and Reagan really seem to like it. Later we finished up with brunch at the Old Country Buffet. As usual the kids threw most of their meal all over the floor and we pitied the poor people who had to clean up the giant mess, but still we had a great time and really enjoyed the food.

Later in the evening is when the big disaster struck. Mommy went downstairs to get some laundry and left the gate to the stairs wide open. She thought Daddy was watching the kids in the Kitchen so we are both to blame for what happened next. Poor little Nathan took a tumble all the way to the bottom of the 12 steps. No one actually saw the fall but we all heard it. My heart just stopped when I realized what had happened. Thank God there were no injuries and Nathan seemed perfectly fine just minutes after the whole ordeal. We are all so very lucky!

I didn't have time to take pictures today but I have a video clip from yesterday of Nathan making the sound that he says the most, "Mem, Mem, Mem" in his VERY high pitched voice. I couldn't get a good video of Reagan but her favorite sound is "Da, Da, Da" in a MUCH lower tone than her brother. Unfortunately Reagan was being very shy in this clip. Hope you enjoy!

Did you know.....

Here is an inventory of where we are right now:

• Number of teeth - Reagan has 11, Nate has 15


• Amount of Milk - 3 gallons a week


• Amount of Diapers - 12 a day


• Clothing Size - 12 month pants, 18 month shirts


• Naps - One a day for about 1.5 to 2 hrs


• Bedtime - 7:30pm until 6am (They just starting sleeping later)


• Words - None, just babbling still


• Favorite Toy - Whatever the other one is playing with

Some new things that are going on are that we are trying to let Reagan's bangs grow so we are putting her hair up with a hair tie. It usually lasts a few hours before either she or Nathan pull it out. We are using some 18 month sleepers now but the legs are just a little too long so that they trip when they walk. Mommy read somewhere to put hair scrunchies around their ankles to keep the footies in place and it has been working really well. Mom also bought some lanyards for their sippy cups. This keeps them from throwing their sippy cups on the floor and it saves Mommy's back and sanity.

We usually have cereal and pancakes or waffles for breakfast but today Mommy made toast with grape jelly and they loved it! I can't say if they will like it again tomorrow, they never seem to like the same thing twice.

Reagan does Squish the Bug

Well, I found out yesterday that the size 6 sandals are just too big so I will be returning them for a size 5. Nathan's feet are a tiny bit bigger than Reagan's but not by much.

We tried on the Back Packs with the harness and leash and they seem to work well. Reagan really likes hers. She seems to like the tail/leash the best. John even caught the two of them playing tug of war with the tail...Reagan just laughs every time the tail is pulled, it was really cute.



Here is video of Reagan stomping her feet or as we call it "Squish the Bug". This is her new favorite game since Daddy taught her.

Her is a video of Nathan pushing two corn popper toys around the kitchen. The kids got corn poppers for Easter but I guess Nate thinks that he needs both of them.

Trying something new

I don't have any experience in this but a lot of my friends have been using a blog to capture many of their kids precious moments and be able to share them with family and friends all over the country so I'm going to give it a try.

I can't promise that this will continue or that if it does, I'm not sure how regularly I will add new info but I'm going to give it a shot. I only uploaded one picture just to see how this whole thing works. If it works out okay I will try uploading some more pics and some video. It will be nice to be able to explain each day and also have a picture or video to go along with the story.

Today Nate and Reagan have found something else that they think is lots of fun..."Stomping their feet". Daddy is the one who taught them this new trick and they do it all the time now. We are hoping that Reagan goes back to walking normally soon because now she thinks she needs to stomp everywhere she goes.

Daddy gave Mommy a break tonight and she went out shopping. She bought lots of stuff for our vacation that is coming up in May. The kids got sandals in size 6 (I hope they fit) and harnesses with a leash so that we can let them walk around during out trip and not get into trouble. The harnesses are actually really cute, they both have back packs for the kids and one looks like a monkey and the other is a teddy bear. We will have to try them out tomorrow and see what the kids think.
